User Reviews about Dayton G73 Electric Garage Heater With Built-In Thermostat
Easy DIY install, just mount it and run 10-2 back to a 30-Amp breaker in your service panel. Heater is small and compact, but works great and has excellent output! Comfortably heats my garage in the dead of winter and I can work in a sweatshirt without having to wear a bulky jacket! -- Excellent Heater!
I am very pleased with the performance of Dayton G73 electric heater for my insulated, 480 square foot, ten foot ceiling, attached garage. Even on sub-zero mornings, it has kept the garage in the 50 degree (F.) range, on the "low" temperature setting on the thermostat. On the "high" setting, I've had the inside garage temperature into the 78 degree (F.) range, after an hour's operation, with sub-freezing temperature ranges outside. The only disappointment I had with the purchase was the fact it didn't come with a "pig-tail" (wiring cable). It worked out okay because that way, I was able to match the cable to the receptacle for the final wiring. I don't know how much it has increased my power bill because on "normal" (usual winter days/nights), I don't even turn the unit on, except for days/nights when outside temps are below zero, or I'm actually working on projects in the garage. The hardest portion of the job was the actual running the required 10-2 wire from the circuit panel to the location of the 240V outlet. I had a master electrician review my installation (and purchase of materials) of the dual-post, 30amp circuit breaker and wiring, via a digital photo of the 70 amp circuit breaker box for the garage. -- Dayton G73 Electric Garage Heater
The first unit I received had a defective connection to the thermostatic switch that caused it to fail in about 10 days. The second unit arrived with a deformed fan mounting bracket that prevented the fan blades from moving at all.
My electrician took the switch from the second unit and wired it into the first unit, creating a Frankenstein heater that is currently working well. The costs of the electrician doubled the total outlay to get a working unit. Verdict: poor quality control. The only really positive part of the experience was that the vendor, RedeemAir, was extremely responsive -- I actually had the second unit in hand within 36 hours of reporting the initial problem. Kudos to RedeemAir. -- Third time's the charm
Have had this item in use for a month, and here in illinios its been miserable. Works great and the difference in my electric bill is nowhere near what i anticipated....Would reccomend this heater to any one.....

I purchased the G73 after reading several reviews on Amazon and other sites. My experience with the heater has been absolutely great when it comes to heating. I have a 720sqft fully insulated and finished garage. I installed the G73 at ceiling level using a dry power cord at the 230V 30A setting for 5,000BTU. Outside temperature on installation day was around 20 degrees with my garage temp at 48 degrees. Less then an hour my garage was 65 degrees with a setting of HI. After several hours we had the garage around 80 degrees and actually opened a garage door to let cool air in. If you are considering this heater my suggestion is to buy int immediately. I did have a problem with the high limit switch turning off my heater after 2 weeks and had it immediately replaced from the vendor. The 2nd unit works the same and I attribute the 1st unit problem to just component failure.
